Albion Place Hotel

Free manicures every Thursday night at the Albion Place Hotel.

So the girls and I went for it!

But the most interesting part of the night was when I ordered dinner at the bar. And you know how sometimes the register will show the name of the server serving you? I took notice of this. It says:

"Hello. My name is Jack Hass"

Nice Girls...

My friend recommended me this book: "Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office". She told me to look it up on Google.

So I did.

I started typing "Nice Girls" on Google and this is the drop down list it came up with:

"Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office"
"Nice Girls Just Don't Get It"
"Nice Girls Names"
"Nice Girls Finish Last"
"Nice Girls Don't Get Rich"

Nice one!

Final Destination 5

Here's a creepy advertising for the new movie, "Final Destination 5".

While on the bus on the way to work, I saw a hearse passing through with the advertisement.

So appropriate though!

Whale Watching

I can check off "Whale Watching" in my things-to-do in life.

This Saturday, we saw three whales in the Sydney Harbour. It must be a mom, dad, and a baby.

Apparently, they like noise so when we saw them, we started stomping on the ground and yelling. The closest they came to us is probably about 5 meters. And one of them even went under the boat. So cool!

Below picture was taken from the internet. All my pictures came out with blue and a black hump above it so I thought I'd pull one out from the net for a better picture.

Big Sheep

On our way back to Sydney from Snowy Mountains and Canberra this weekend, I exited the freeway to get some petrol.

The petrol station had a big sheep!!! I had to take a picture of it.

Baaaaaaaaa!!!

David Jones Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Show

The marketing department where I work at David Jones is responsible for the production of the company's Fashion Show. And again, I volunteered at the show and just happen to be a seat filler at the last minute.

I would not have volunteered this time if Miranda Kerr, our ambassador, wasn't returning to do the runways. She had taken a maternity leave and missed two of our previous fashion shows.

This is the best shot of her from the show.

Shooting Range

I went to a shooting range this weekend which involves handling a revolver, 9mm pistol, 44 magnum, and a shotgun.

Whew! That was a great experience. I liked the 9mm pistol...easy to handle.

Here's my 9mm pistol performance:

Julia Gillard

On my way to work today, I saw three white cars waiting infront of the coffee shop next to our office. One of the cars had the Australian flag on the hood. I thought, must be an important person inside.

As I walked pass the cars, I saw the Prime Minister of Australia at the back of the car on the phone. She must have stopped for a quick coffee on the run.

Churros Party

Something different.

We had a churros party this Sunday for Maree's birthday. Since she's from Spain, she had the Churros idea for an afternoon tea.

So easy to make.

Here are the ingredients:

- 700 ml of plain flour
- 500 ml of hot water mixed with the flour
- add 1 tsp of salt
- add 1 tsp of olive oil

Enjoy!!!

I Scream, You Scream, We all scream for Ice Cream

Am not really a big fan of ice cream. But when I tried Connoisseur - Dark Chocolate Brownie flavor - I swear, I got turned on...just this flavor though.

So when I couldn't find the flavor no longer at the local grocery shop, I emailed Nestle. Why?

I was hoping they would send me a case of it to say "Sorry, we don't have it on stock but here's some before we get a new shipment." They told me they discontinued the flavor because of no demand. They suggested me another flavor but I wouldn't try it.

Today, I saw Ben & Jerry's ice cream and got the Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavor. Its close enough but nothing compared to Connoisseur's Dark Chocolate Brownie Flavor.

I'll miss ya!

Check out Bachata on YouTube. Would you sign up for this class?

I did and I'm enjoying it. I just finished my salsa class the other day. It was starting to bore me.

I'm a bachatera now...beginners.

NZ Trip Theme Song

Cherry and I went to New Zealand for the long Easter weekend.

We had two theme songs...for some reason, they kept playing it on the radio:

1. Britney Spears - "Till the World Ends"
2. J Lo - "On the Floor" (with Pitbull)

So everytime we hear this song, it reminds us of New Zealand.

Funny!

State Elections

We had the state elections today which every citizen is required to do.

On the ballot, they had the two main parties, the Liberals and the Labors. Then of course, there's the Green Party. And like about 7 more parties to choose from. But I thought it weird that one of the parties was called "No Parking Meters" party.

Seriously?!?! What's that about?

La Cita

We had a surprise birthday party for my friend at La Citas in King St Wharf. Most of us knew how to salsa so the venue was just appropriate. I gotta put on mileage on the salsa shoes I bought so I brought it along with me.

This thing I'm about to tell you doesn't even have anything to do with the birthday or salsa. The lady I was sitting next to was a big lady. I kept looking at her hands and it reminded me of the "Man Hands" episode of Seinfeld. She had man hands!!!

I hope she doesn't see this blog.

Zumba

After finishing salsa class, I needed some type of exercise to keep my rhythm going. Zumba is a fitness program that combines aerobic with latin dancing. So it would be sort of in line with salsa.

I saw an offer for like $39 for 8 classes of zumba at Fernwood Women's gym in Broadway. So I've signed up and started a class today. Whew! 30 minutes into it, I was sweating and exhausted already. It was a good workout!

Comedy Festival

Comedy Festival is kicking off in Sydney.

Three days ago, I received an email for two free tickets for "The Best in Live Comedy" at the Comedy Store at the Entertainment Quarter in Fox Studios, Moore Park. Sure, why not. The best things are always free. A few minutes later, I got another email of the same thing. So I got 4 free tickets that I shared with my flatmates and our neighbor.

Two international comedians came: Eddie Ifft (US) and Stephen Grant (UK)

I don't know how really good that is?!?!?!

Nude Drawing

Art House Hotel - $4/session (so cheap!!!)

My friend reserved a spot for me in the front row facing the model for this nude drawing class. She says, "Celestine, you should come here more often. The past couple of weeks, its been a woman model. But tonight, its a male model." Lucky, I was. And lucky was my seat.

The male model was totally naked. He posed for a couple of hours and I drew about 28 poses of him. Some poses he did!!! Haha!!!

And I was surprised with how well I drew. My friend who went to college for it asked me if I had taken classes before. I was impressed myself.

DJ's Racing Media Launch

My coworker asked me if I wanted to be a seat filler for our Racing Launch (a small fashion show to kick off the Autumn Racing season). A few of the guests couldn't make it so in order to make it look like the show is full, I volunteered. Within 10 minutes of the show, I was tapped to give up my seat coz one of the guests was late. Ah well! I watched the show from behind the scenes.

Some of the guests included Megan Gale, Emma Freedman, Gai Waterhouse, and their runway model, Samantha Harris.

Auditors - EY

We had the auditors last week. I asked the Finance people what the auditors look like. She said, "they look like high school students". Hehehe. I said, new kids who don't know anything. This will be easy. I can tell them anything and they would believe me (I used to be an auditor once...and am sure when I first started, my clients thought the same thing).

Anyway, the auditor selected 10 samples. Six of them were for me. I called him up and explained to him what they were for. He seemed to be asking the wrong questions! A few minutes after we hang up, he emailed and requested for 6 more samples to replace the 6 samples that he questioned me.

I reckon he didn't understand what I said and it was easier to get another sample that was clean and easy to explain. I'm cool with it! I got away!!! hehe

Star Model Sighting

I was walking back to work at David Jones after lunch today. When I got to the employee entrance elevators, I heard something about someone needing a back entrance. Next thing I know, I see the manager of security leading a tall, slim woman towards the elevator area. My elevator opened up and I wanted to stick around to see what's up. But I didn't want to look like one of those crazy, star-strucked people.

I saw Elle Macpherson today!

Salsa Shoes

I have officially bought a pair of salsa shoes. And they are red, too!!! They are red, sexy, come-dance-with-me shoes (not that I'm a great dancer anyway).

I've been taking beginner's salsa class (which I've done about 4yrs ago). Its a good exercise and a good way to meet new people.

I tell people I go speed dating...which is basically what you do at salsa class. Hehe. You dance with a partner and change partners every few minutes.

My friend and I went to Coolabar one Friday night. We thought we were joining a free salsa class. It ended up being a zouk class. And can you believe it? A couple of sleezy guys brushed their arms on my boobs!!! The class was ok but I prefer salsa better.

I got to use the shoes at Vivaz Restaurant. Since I've invested on a pair, I have to make sure I put mileage on it.

And by the way, they are soooo comfortable. My only comment. Why can't they make normal shoes as comfortable as these?!?!?!?

127 Hours Movie Premiere

I happened to be at Events cinemas at George St when they were having the premiere for the movie "127 Hours". They had the red carpet on. I was waiting to see James Franco (but apparently, he is too busy). But I saw the real guy James portrayed...I figured its the guy who had a hook on his arm.

There were a few moviegoers who walked on the red carpet and acted like they were celebrities. Such wannabes!

Superbowl XLV

Greenbay Packers def Pittsburgh Steelers

Go cheeseheads! Can you tell I was rooting for the Packers (even though I'm wearing a New England Patriots t-shirt...but really, I'm from the Bay Area so I would naturally go for the San Francisco 49ers or the Oakland Raiders).

I hope my boss doesn't see this blog coz I called in sick on Monday to watch Superbowl Sunday (in the US). Please don't tell my boss.
